Call for Volunteers

Every biennium, Phi Kappa Phi depends upon the good work of more than 100 volunteers to serve on as many as 12 national committees. Most committees are made up of five individuals, including the chair, who represent the diversity of Society membership.

Committee work usually involves conference calls and in some cases a meeting in Baton Rouge. All travel expenses are paid for by the Society (according to its travel expense policy), and meetings are kept to a minimum for the sake of efficiency.

This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved on a national level with Phi Kappa Phi and to network with colleagues from around the country.

Click here to review the list of committees and descriptions of their work.

Members must be active (dues-current) to serve on a committee and have been a member of Phi Kappa Phi for at least five years (initiated in 2011 or earlier). The deadline for submissions is Sept. 10.

Click here to submit the Committee Service Volunteer Form.

Phi Kappa Phi Increases Number of Awards

Beginning with the 2016-2018 biennium, three Phi Kappa Phi award programs will offer an increased number of available awards totaling $125,000.

Dissertation Fellowships
The Dissertation Fellowship Program, introduced in 2014, will now offer 10 Dissertation Fellowships at $10,000 each. Up from two Fellowships each year, the Dissertation Fellowship Program supports doctoral candidates who are completing their dissertations. The application period opens October 1.

Love of Learning Awards
The Love of Learning Program will now offer 200 awards at $500 each. The increase in awards, up from 160, will go into effect with Session A on December 15. Session B of the program is currently open and will close October 1. Love of Learning Awards help fund post-baccalaureate studies and career development for active members including graduate or professional studies, doctoral dissertations, continuing education, career development and travel related to teaching/studies. One hundred awards will be distributed during each session.

Study Abroad Grants
The Study Abroad Program will now offer 75 awards at $1,000 each. Up from 50 grants each year, the Study Abroad Program supports undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Fifty awards will be offered during Session A and 25 grants will be offered during Session B. Applications are currently being accepted for Session B. The deadline to apply is September 15.

If you have questions about these changes or any of the Phi Kappa Phi award programs, please contact Kelli Partin at kpartin@phikappaphi.org.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi will install its 336th chapter at Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico today, August 19.
