Nominations Being Accepted for Scholar, Artist, and Distinguished Service Awards

Phi Kappa Phi is currently seeking nominations for its Scholar, Artist, and Ray Sylvester Distinguished Service Awards. The deadline to submit a nomination is February 1, 2018.

Given once a biennium, the awards honor individuals who have demonstrated the ideals of the Society through their lifelong activities, achievements and scholarship. Each award highlights the academic and professional accomplishments of Phi Kappa Phi members who are renowned in their field.

First presented in 1974, the Scholar Award recognizes excellence in teaching, research and public service. In 1983, the Artist Award was established to recognize the achievements of those who, in addition to their outstanding scholarship, have displayed talents in the broad realm of the arts—creative, graphic, performing, visual, and fine arts.

Named in memory of Dr. H. Ray Sylvester, who at the time of his death served as president-elect, the Ray Sylvester Distinguished Service Award honors an individual who has provided sustained, non-compensated volunteer service to others beyond the realm of academia. The Distinguished Service Award was established in 2013.

Recipients of each award will receive a $1,000 honorarium, life membership and a recognition citation. The three honorees will be recognized at the Society’s 2018 Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, August 2-4.

The deadline to submit a nomination for each award is February 1, 2018. Self-nominations are accepted.
