Chapter Update - December 2018

By Kay White
Chapter Development Director

Chapter 336 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico recently presented a successful off-campus event to highlight research ethics and in doing so, made community ties that went beyond the campus. The evening event was co-hosted with the Ponce Athenaeum of Culture, an organization that promotes the rich culture of Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Dr. Rafael Bredy, assistant professor of public health at the Ponce School of Medicine and Health Science, gave a lecture and answered questions about research ethics in medicine. The activity was held at El Candil, an independent workshop, and was attended by about 75 people from all walks of life, despite the rainy evening.

Phi Kappa Phi member Dr. Margarita Rodríguez and Prof. Maria Isabel Chaparro, members of the Ponce Athenaeum of Culture, helped to organize the event, along with Dr. Monica Arroyo, president-elect of chapter 336 and associate professor of chemistry at Pontifical Catholic University.
